Our cars
January 22 1969 I almost succeeded for my licence test, I flunked for the theoretical part. Next time I succeeded complete, I was 18 years and 5 months on that time
For sure I wanted a car immediately and I even found one. Below you find an overview of all the cars we had until now. The exact years I am not sure of however for sure I am close.

Webmaster

  1. Auto Bianchi 500 cc Convertible based on fiat 500-year approx 1964
Nice and funny car I drove it for about 9 months.

  2. Renault 8, year 1963, the worst car I ever had, Suspension broke because of rust. Tried to repair (welding) but to much rust After about 3 months I took it to the junk yard
Due to lack of money I was without a cars for almost 6 months, which was for me a disaster

  3. Citroen 2CV (ugly duck) year 1958, with the gigantic horsepower of 12 hp had one great option the window wiper was connected to the speedometer and therefore proportional to the driving speed. Now all carmakers sell this as something special.
We are talking of the early seventies so the car was dressed up fully flower power. Drove the car for about one year, ran always but was very slow (maximum speed about 55 mph) so I started looking for a faster ugly duck

    eend02.jpg (135203 bytes)
  4. Citroen 2CV year 1963, With semi automatic clutch this car had about 18hp and made easily 65 mph. Again lots of rust problems but welding was easy to do I even re-sprayed her. Drove this car about 2 years and she even took us to Norway for vacation, first vacation with Maja. After the vacation I had some engine trouble and start looking for an even faster ugly duck again.
    eend04.jpg (24134 bytes)
  5. Citroen 3CV (AZAM) year 1967 26 hp (it is now 1973)
Great we do easily 70 mph even faster sometime. This car took us trough Italy and Balkan for about six weeks. One of the universal joints broke in the middle of Rome, driving was impossible. We got to the camping with the help of a friendly Italian. Renewed the universal joint, the dealer I bought the joint from, offered me a job because I fixed it in about 1 hour. Sold this car early 1974.

  6. Citroen Dyana 6, year 1970. We were doing well and we wanted to have a better, newer and more reliable car. That is why we bought this car. OK the car was newer, nicer but more reliable I doubt. She broke down on me while I was passing and the entire engine was blown up. For sure no money left for repair and we bought the car without warranty. Lucky us the dealer we bought the car from felt sorry for us and offered to repair the car in his spare time. (Very nice and decent price)
That was the only problem we ever had with this car, we liked this car so much that we even used her to get to the cityhall to get married. We had this car till 1975 and traded her for the next car.
The pictures below are the prove

    diana01.jpg (50363 bytes) diana02.jpg (60022 bytes)
  7. Simca 1100LS year 1972. We are doing even better so again newer and more comfortable. Great car never had any problems with her. Drove her till halfway 1976 and traded her.
       simca01.jpg (31911 bytes)
They call this road in the Balkan (1975)
  8. Simca 1100LS year 1974. Again a bad car we should not have traded the first Simca, but we had such a good experience with the first Simca, which is why we bought this one. Drove her till early 1977. By now I was working at Observator as a service engineer and was entitled for a company car.
No picture of this car see above and think blue

  9. Simca 1100LS estate year 1975. The first company car. Even worst then my blue Simca. Now it is early 1978 and the first brand-new company car is on its way. At the mean time Maja got her licence and from now on her car will mentioned also
    simca02.jpg (40039 bytes)
  10. MAJA
Opel (B)Kadett Coupe year 1970. Nice and reasonable rust free car. This car is a four cylinder of which only 3 1/2cylinders were working. However the car drove for about 1 year. We sold her to a friend and she drove her for about 2 more years still running on 3 1/2 cylinders.
These cars are really very strong and run for ever.

  11. HENK
    Opel (C)Kadett city year 1978.
As told before the first brand-new company car. Not the type of car I liked but there was no choosing. Drove her for about 3 years

  12. MAJA
Datsun 100A year 1974. Small but nice. Needed a new head gasket when I bought her. Car without problems typical Japanese. Drove her for about 1 year
    .

  13.  MAJA
Mazda 1000 year 1975. Again a Japanese car but a little bigger and more comfortable. Car without problems.
Now it is 1980 (end) and the company want to sent me to the USA for a period of about 2 years. Leaving was planned at the end of 1981.

    mazda01.jpg (13258 bytes)
  14. HENK
    Opel (C)Kadett City year 1979.
My first company car was almost worn out (drove more then 150000 miles. I was not entitled to get a new car due to the fact we were leaving. I got a replacement, which was used by a colleague
The Mazda as well as the Opel were used till the end of 1981.
We are leaving to the States.

  15. HENK
Mercury Zephyr Z7 (6 cylinder). Year 1981 company car. Nice and comfortable car, drove her till end of 1983 and sold her to the neighbours

    zepher01.jpg (45042 bytes) zepher02.jpg (37333 bytes) zepher03.jpg (60728 bytes)
  16. MAJA
Mercury Cougar XR7 coupe (Landau) 8 cylinder. This was one of the nicest car we ever had, just BIG and COMFORTABLE. Used this car often for private trips throughout the States. Have had some minor problems. Drove this car until we returned to Holland
We were thinking about taking this car to Holland, but it turned out to be too expansive.

  17. HENK
Honda Accord 1600 (serie 1) year 1979. The company is doing badly. I am no longer a service engineer and therefore not entitled for a company car. That’s why we had to buy a private car. Drove this car for about 9 months.

  18. HENK
Datsun Laurel 2400LS 6-cylinder year 1980. I wanted to have a large car again. This car was in great shape and had only 60000km according to the dealer. Later this turned out to be at least 160000 and maybe even 260000.
However great car I drove an extra 200000 km in less then 4 year.
Great performance great engine bad steel (rust al over the place) I really had to trade her closing the doors was getting risky.

  19. MAJA
Toyota Carina 1600 year 1974. It is picking up again I now work for an other company and need my car for travelling again.
That's why we bought a car for Maja again. Decent car I even resprayed her. Maja drove her for about 2 years. Too bad we now have state inspection every year and finally the car did not pass the inspection without high costs for repair. So I sold her.

  20. MAJA
Mitsubishi Lancer year 1978 bought this car with recent state inspection did not pass the next inspection. Car without trouble too bad from the inspection so I sold her.
Now it is 1988 and the Datsun Laurel (my car) is in very bad shape and needs to be replaced.
    .

  21. HENK
Oldsmobile Omega Europe 2500 4-cylinder year 1983 all options.

Very nice car to look at, we decided to have this car again for a long time. Too bad, bad luck. The engine broke down after about 3 weeks. We had bought the car with warranty, but the sales company did not want to fix her. They told me to pick an other car. There was no car I liked so I refused and wanted my money back. To make a long story short I lost. They gave me a replacement car until I found a car I liked at their company.

  22. HENK
Honda Accord 1800EX year 1984. This was the replacement car, decent driving but bad looking and lots of rust. Had to drive her for about 3 months.
Before I got this Honda I had the following replacement cars also. ROVER 3500 v.d. Plas drove it for about 1 weekend broke down, Ford (Europe) Granada  2.3L drove for a little more then 1 week broke down, Toyota Carina leaking anywhere. Finally the Honda. Lucky me also the dealer broke down after I got my final car from them.

  23. HENK
Ford (Europe) Granada 2.8GTI year 1982. I finally found a car, which I did not dislike too much. It was not really a car I wanted but it looked and drove good and was very comfortable I drove this Ford for about 1 year.

  24. MAJA
Honda Prelude year 1980 new inspection lasted 1 year did not pass the next inspection.

  25. MAJA
Austin Mini Metro year 1982. The Prelude needed to be replaced. Found this very nice looking car with new inspection, again bad luck lasted for about 3 months. Broken suspension.

  26. MAJA
OPEL (C)KADETT Sedan year 1979.  The local Austin dealer had this car and wanted our Metro as trade. So we made a deal with him without any payment. The Opel was not nice but technical very good. Drove for about 2 years.

  27. HENK
Renault 19GTS Chamade year 1990. The company is doing well and I am entitled for a company car in which I have to drive minimal 4 years. It is now April 1990

      chamade03.jpg (27717 bytes)
  28. HENK/MAJA
We were driving somewhere and saw a nice DAF 55 Coupe year 1970 for sale. Daf is a Dutch car, which is made from 58 till about 76 later it became Volvo. This type of car was very special because it was a small car with no ordinary gearbox but a so-called variomatic. The Daf was in decent shape but was not running we had the plan to restore the car completely. I started working for an other company and had some more time left. We bought an extra DAF sedan for parts and started the restoration. I had the engine fixed the interior renewed and at the same time we got lots of work at the company and I had to travel a lot. The Daf waited for restoration for almost 5 years and I gave up. I sold the car to a colleague, he made her ready for use but did not finish the restoration. Almost 1 year ago he told me he is going to restore her, he is still very happy with the car and for sure he will finish the restoration he did many more cars.

  29. MAJA
MINI 1000 Special year 1980. Again we saw this car for sale Maja liked it and was tired of her Kadett.
We had her inspected and did not find any reason not to buy it. The Mini was in very nice and good condition. Maja drove the Mini for at least 1.5 year.

    mini01.jpg (37540 bytes) mini02.jpg (32965 bytes)
  30. MAJA
Fiat Panda White year 1985. Maja wanted an other car and she liked the Panda. We sold the Mini to her brother who drove her an other 3 years and started looking for a Panda. We found one with new inspection and had her for 1 year
    .
    panda03.jpg (32625 bytes)
  31. HENK
Kia Sephia 1600GTS year 1994. I needed a new company car the Renault was more then 4 years old. I had been in Korea for several times and liked the Kia for two reasons. Mainly no one had ever heard of it when it came first to Holland and secondly it was full options and good priced.  The Kia turned out to be a very good chooses. Never ever had any problems with this car.

  32. MAJA
Fiat Panda Jolly year 1988. Maja liked her first Panda so much she wanted a newer Panda. We found a special edition (Jolly) and traded the first Panda. Drove this car for about 1.5 year.

    panda02.jpg (58896 bytes)
  33. MAJA
Suzuki SJ410 Jeep year 1988. Maja wanted either a Jeep or Convertible, it became a combination of the two. This car was completely restored and in new condition when we bought it. She drove it for 2 years and never ever any trouble.

    JEEP02.JPG (43739 bytes) JEEP03.JPG (18774 bytes) JEEP04.JPG (16944 bytes)
  34. HENK
Suzuki Baleno 1800GTX estate year 1998. The Kia was 4 years old and I needed a new car. I was thinking of having a Kia again, but I don't like to have the same car in a row. I wanted an estate and the Baleno was a car I liked. So Baleno it was. Car without any trouble but I should never have her again a car with even less character as Opel.

    BALENO01.JPG (29019 bytes) BALENO02.JPG (39407 bytes)
  35. MAJA
Renault Twingo year 1994. You get older and find out that a jeep is not that comfortable and Maja was dreaming of a Twingo for a long time. So we made her dream come through. Great, comfortable and very roomy car. Had her for about 2.5 year.

  36. MAJA
Renault Twingo Air year 2000. You get even older and go out to buy flowers and come back with an almost new car. The Twingo was used as demonstration car and was 4 months old and has all options. We hope to have this car for a long time.

    TWINGO01.JPG (33369 bytes) TWINGO02.JPG (41890 bytes)
  37. HENK
Citroen Picasso Plaisir year 2002. This will be my last company car. I am almost 52 years old now and I decided to stop working this much in 5 years. If I do so I am not longer entitled for a company car. That is also one of the reasons we bought the almost new Twingo.
    Rectification,
Stop working I better forget, since having a divorce is very expansive even though it's not your own decision, but being happy is more important.

  38. INEKE
    Volkswagen Beatle year 1972.
After the divorce a lot of things happened. I met somebody at the end of 2003 and she owned the Beatle, which has been used as second family car.
The moment we decided to go for each other we found that the Beatle was too expansive and very un comfortable to drive all week for almost 200 km per day, that's why we decided to sale the Beatle and buy a more comfortable car instead.
My son drove the Beatle till the state inspection was due.

  39. INEKE
Daihatsu Applaus 1600 Automatic year 1992
Very cheap to buy and drive and reasonable in comfort. The car is in very good condition, we hope we still own the car at the end of the lease period of the Picasso, due to the fact Maja took the Twingo after the divorce. At the mean time Ineke and I decided to get re-married what happened at Dec 13 2004, exact one year after we met.

  40. INEKE / HENK
Hyundai Sonata 3 liter 6 cilinder Automatic full options year 1997
Again a very bad car. The car is finally OK after many expansive repairs, but I don't like her anymore. So the car is sold.
I bought the Car at RH Auto in Apeldoorn DON'T EVER BUY YOUR CAR OVERTHERE
The story of this car will be told on an other page.

We are back to an Applause also fully equipped. Automatic, power steering/windows, Air conditioning, central locking etc.
Up till now a very nice and fine car bought from a private owner.
The Picasso will be returned in April 2006. I was not able to have a new company car..

At the connection of the A27 and A28 also to cars got connected, mine and an old Citroen. We were still able to drive but due to the decent payment of the insurance and the decent trade price I was able to receive for the Applaus we wanted an other new (old) car. The car needed only three things, running on propane, being an automatic and having air conditioning. We found a nice and fully equipped Renault Megane 1.6 RXi. Lets hope we will have as much pleasure from this car as we had from the Applaus

  43. INEKE/HENK
The Renault died after little more the 2 years and at 285000 km, not bad but I was disappointed anyhow. Because getting an other car costs money and that is something we don't have. But anyhow we started looking and found ourselves, a nice Pablo Picasso.
2.0l automatic and also running on propane.

  44. INEKE / HENK
At the end of 2012 we looking forward to buying an other car and I wanted something big, nice and special due to the fact you never know how corrupt the state and/or bank will become.
Better spend the money before they take it.
After some time we found a dark blue with almost white leather interior and just a few km(miles) on it Mercedes E-320 of the year 2002.
We had a propane installation built in and march 9 - 2012 we pick-up the car about 250 km from home.
Very nice car with very happy owners.

We drove the Mercedes, with lots of pleasure, for over three years (60.000km) without any problem.
By then i decided she needed a maintenance check up, from there it started to go wrong (see below being almost bankrupt we decided to buy a smaller and cheaper car. To bad however i had to be done. see below why:
12 sparks, oil brakeblocks  600 Euro
Motor management warning ignition coil cylinder 4 renewed and air mass sensor. turned out not to be the problem.   560 euro
Motor management warning again injector cilinder 4 renewed  735 Euro
Motor management warning again turned out to be injector cylinder 5 had all injectors renewed 1150 Euro
About one month without problems by the she would not start fuel pump renewed   500 Euro
About one month later battery warning, both batteries turned out to be Oke so probably the control unit nobody knew and/or could give a price
for sure expensive. not being repaired

otaleTotal costs in less the three months  3545 Euro
  45. Henk en Ineke
As replacement we bougth a Citroen Picasso C3, i am still missing the luxury of the Mercedes but not missing the high costs.
After a while we had some major problems with the fuel systems needed to be repaird on the high way for three time and I was missing the automatic transmission. After a year we dicided to have an automatic again.

  46. End of 2017 we found a very nice Peugeot 207 SW fully loaded and auto transmission.
The peugeot is using the same type of engine as the citroen, but the citroen had driven almost 200.000 and the peugeot only 90.000km.
However after almost 2 months the same problems as we had with the citroen and in order to avoid extra costs we trade the p[eugeot for an other peugeot.

  47. So the 207 is traded for a 208 diesel again fully loaded and very well in fuel consumption better the 1 liter per 20 km.
Nice and comfortable car but very slow.
Drove the 207 for almost 9 months I
  48. We never regretted driving the peugeot 208 but I had the lucky possibility to buy a brandnew car. Not runninig on gas and or Diesel but just on petrol. After some shopping we found the Suzuki Baleno 1.2 high excutive, nice and comfortable car loaded and automatic (CVT) transmission.
Fuel consumption also very nice better then 1 liter per 18 km and cheap with the road tax. lets hope we can drive this car for a long period.

  49. First of all I apology to the Baleno due to the fact the Baleno was really a nice, fine, luxury, cheap and comfortable car, which I never regret buying and driving for a little more less1,5 year.
Because I am still working and more money is coming in then going out we decided to buy a larger and even more luxury car which turned out to be a Suzuki SX4 S-Cross High Executive. Due to all our medical problems I don't think we will travel that much anymore and saving money for the children I won't so we spent it our self.

  50. Again I apology to a Suzuki this time to the S-Cross, after driving this car for about 1 year, although I was very pleased with the car, I wanted something else.  Why, just because Ineke said to me what will your new project be after finishing the Vito Camper and just to say something I said a Cabrio. And that is why we now have a nice BMW 328 Cabrio older then the Suzuki. We traded the Suzuki and got money back so hopefully a nice deal.

  51. Because I wanted a car with a hook I got myself a Berlingo which I rebuilt to a small camper refer to campers

  52. Because rebuilding the Berlingo into a camper was such a nice jog I did it again refer to campers

  53. After driving the BMW for more then tree years  I decided to sell the Cabrio due to the very high costs of taxes and insurance and the very bad weather lately, driving the car open was hardly possible due to all the rain.
I traded the BMW for a nice and cheap Ciroen C4 Cactus full options and she has even an engine, 3 cylinder 82PK. and if I want to drive in a stronger car I still have the Plymouth camper 6 cylinder with lots of PK

Till so far our cars.
