Bike 63
Puch 125
The last model, not being in our
collection was the Puch 125. Although the fact this type is first made in
1940 but became well known after the war, I consider this type as being post
war. The big TF and the small SVS are placed next to each other in our
garage. At a morning, when I opened the garage, I found in between these two
the Puch 125 surely a child of these two looking like daddy the TF and the cubic
inches like mother the SVS and the color more like the SVS but a little
darker. Mother and child were doing fine.
How I became this bike?
Early 2008 I found her for sale on the internet, so I made the well known
phone call. Too bad the man had two bikes for sale and sold already one
(Peugeot) and he decide to hang on to the Puch during the rest of the
season, after the season he would decide the sell the 125 or not to sell
her. I told him the price I was willing to pay and he promised me to call me
at the end of the season.
End of July the phone rang,
I had almost forgotten about it, and yes he wanted to sell for the price I
had offered. This 125 was working on Palace Soestdijk as guard bike. At the beginning
of the war the bike was hidden and returned to the palace at the end of the
war. There she stayed till 1956 and she became a regular license. From 1958
till almost 2000 the bike was not used at all. When she returned she needed
to be repainted but that was all. Again she was not used for a long time,
until the former owner bought her in 2006 and again hardly used. Now I
bought her and she will be used. She is looking good running great and has
only 8663 km on the odometer.
