BIKE
48 Monet Goyon Starlett 98cc
Again we did what we should
not, Ineke is almost as crazy as I am. On the internet we saw an ugly but
funny bike a Monet Goyon Starlett, The
branch was familiar but the type I had never heard of. She was rusty, but
complete and very funny. I called the seller and discussed about the price.
No way I was able to get her any cheaper. Anyhow she was cheap already and
not something to get bankrupt of. I had the bike reserved for me and we took
the car and trailer, on Monday to pick her up. At the moment we arrived she
looks even worst then showing on the detailed pictures. A little disappointed,
but I bought her anyhow. At home we were surprised because of the following:
 | Filled the tires, only
one was leaking 50% lucky |
 | Took out the spark
plug, the plug was brand-new. That gave hope. |
 | Check ignition found
working. |
 | Mixed some gasoline and
poured into the tank. Tank was not leaking. |
 | Pulled the starter
(handle). Sounded good. |
 | Cleaned gas chamber,
found not dirty |
 | Check compression no
problem. |
 | Re-placed the plug.
Pulled the starter handle twice and she was running
Not just running but perfectly running |
 | Check the shifting of
both the gears. Perfect |
 | Opened the yard gate
and took her for a short trial. The largest surprise "Even the
brakes are working" |
 | Referring to the seventies
"TO MAD" and thanks to the seller even cleaning was nice. Restoring
will be done later (retirement) First thing I want to do now i take her out
for a ride. However with only 98cc and a top speed of 65 km/h (40ml/h) this
might take a while. |
